Default z06 exhaust on base C5

Has anyone installed the z06 exhaust on their stock C5 base? Did you notice any difference in sound? Trying to determine the best budget exhaust to go with. Thanks

I've got a Corsa Tigershark cat-back, and love it, but if I were looking for a budget solution, I would be hard pressed to not give the bypass mod a try first:

I put them on my 04 base 6 speed. Tips look way better and sound is quiet at idle and nice when accelerating and cruising.

Default just done.....

Just put stock ZO6 cat backs on my stock 2001 C5....When I did this on my 2000 M6 stock C5 the idle exhaust sound increased about 10%...very nice. BUT on just completed 2001 NADA...
nothing, really not any difference in exhaust note. Quite sure this is due to the Pup Cats/ mini cats added on '01 engines.for epa compliance. , you can see these, with a flashlight pointed down where the headers bolt onto the exhaust pipes in the engine bay. Not happy...now trying to figure out how to get rid of these...actually thinking about going to a muffler shop and seeing what they say about getting these cut out.really don't want full exhaust system......but....
on a side note, each pup weighs about 5 lbs...and robs maybe 2 hp....hate em

Did it on mine and noticed a little note change at idle, no change at highway speeds but a big difference on wot. I would have done the bypass mod on my stock exhaust if it wasn't for those horrible oval tips. That was the main reason why I changed over to the Z06 mufflers.

I know it sucks but you need to save up and buy an exhaust system to get the good sound.
I did and am happy with my Borla axle back on my 03 stock vert. I still have the stock h-pipe.
I almost cried spending the money but a year later I'm glad I did.
Good luck!

I put a stock Z06 Ti exhaust on my heads/cam/longtubes car and it's perfect. It's loud enough when you're WOT but quiet enough when you're cruising to listen to the radio at a reasonable volume.

I put on a set on my 2001 just a few weeks ago and I'm pleased. As others have said, idle has no change in volume but a little deeper tone. WOT is where you get the most noticeable change in both volume and tone.

Yes - It has a little more rumble at idle, but not much. And the hard acceleration sound is more of a roar than the original which was more of a howl. When I first heard it I thought how much more like the C7R racers it sounded.

I have the C5 Z06 Ti exhaust on my '99 FRC. The motor is a +400 rwhp 5.7L with LG Pro LT headers and their catted X-pipe. I like the sound, plus I really love the weight savings.

DM me your email address and I'll send some to you. I've since put Corsa Extreme on my car, but I've got some in-car vids, idle clips, and a dyno video from outside the car when I had the Z06 Ti's on the car. That exhaust is still in my attic if I ever decide to change back. (Thinking about getting cut and flanged so I can get it on/off the car without requiring a lift and undoing the sway bar, but that's another story entirely...
