With all the C5 performance guru's in here I'm hoping somebody can help. I want to buy a Magnuson charger but I'm already using a TNT 100 wet nitrous kit, can this be done or will I have problems. My other question is that I have a well skilled mechanic that will put the kit on my car but should I figure on taking the car to a chassis dyno to have the computer tuned as well and does anybody know where one is in the midwest as I'm from Iowa. Thank you advance for any help.
What no thought from anybody, has nobody tried this before? Would I be better off just going with the heads and cam? I also plan on going with a 4.10 gear, I know traction will be a problem but plan on running slicks at the strip.
I would definitely have the tuning done on a dyno and by a very respected tuner. I also plan on running spray with my super charger when I iron out all the slipping issues and put my new motor in. I would not go with 410 gears with that combo I feel you will be revving to high going through the traps 373 would be my choice do you have a 6 speed or auto. Boost and spray is a lot for a stock short block. Haeds and cam work great but I preffer to be different.
No personal exp here - but I have been told that you will always eventualy pop an engine using forced induction and spray..
Ya some will say all day "I am doing it! No biggie here!" but later down the road it will catchup to ya.. All you need it to go lean and POP...
Can it be done safely? Tuned for reliability and safley? I dont know and maybe some of the guys with more exp can say - but again I think it is playing with fire..
You want to keep the Nitrous shots very small, like a 35-50HP shot. It will give you 2 to 3 times that power as it cools the SC charge. Make sure you address your fuel system.
But our SC's are making 550-650rwhp right now, so I'm not sure I see the need.
You have to be very careful running boost and spray together. You can sometimes get away with running a 35hp shot and maybe (big maybe) push it to a 50 but I wouldn't go any higher than that. You'll be less likely to do any damage with this running a supercharger making 6# than spraying one that is producing 8-10#. From experience I sprayed a Vortech powered LS1 that was running 10.80s at 130 (these numbers were without nitrous). The blower was making 9# of boost and I hit it with a 50 shot. The car came out a little to hard before I sprayed so I had to totally take my foot out of it. I hammered it again when the car got traction and then sprayed to see how it would react. Even with totally lifting off of the throttle the car ran 11.27 @ 128 MPH so that would have been a good pass. I didn't attempt it again because one of the heads lifted and the gasket checked out.
