Default Vortech supercharger

I was thinking of getting a Vortech supercharger - saw some Youtube's that suggested doing this versus cams, headers etc. for the reliability and issues with other engine components - just curious what thoughts/opinions would be from the forum experts. My concerns is that with the extra power what worries would have to be concerned with such as rearend, tranny, etc. From what I understand when the install is done they would be changing out the valve springs ( possible failure point) and injectors to handle the extra power and fuel requirements. Curious what others have done and what kind of a bill I should expect. In DFW we have a few speed shops that have good reputations (LG Motorsports, 21st Century Muscle Cars) but I haven't talked to any of them yet. This is the problem with having time on my hands and watching car shows on the TV..

I bought the A&A kit with the vortech, upgraded clutch, bigger injectors, boost A pump, and had the crank pinned. I installed the system and drove it to a turner. Car makes 535hp/476tq at 6200rpm, very streetable, until you push the go fast pedal.

Look to spend about 6 k plus for just the system and another 1500-2000 for the the install plus a good sfi rather balancer and pinning the crank is required..plus it’s a good time to get the timing /cam shaft and oil pump ...so unless u got about 10 grand to throw at u might want to re think it ...plus boost gauges , afr gauges , tuning ......

Steering rack needs to be pulled ...needs alignment after that ...u need to bend the horn bracket and relocate it beware smog how u bend it because u will face tire rub on the passenger side of not done right ...good luck any smog or 50 state legal set up will cost some dough like I said about 6500 just for the system complete with plugs, and fuel pump to through AA ....and their trade in program isn’t the best as I called to upgrade to a biggger one they actually wanted me to buy the head unit and not take in trades right now so just make it’s-what u want 1st.......

I don't know if this would be a concern, but some have regretted the extra weight hanging so far forward , just thought I would mention this to make sure all bases were touched when forming your buying decision.

None of that stuff you are considering would fly as street legal in my neighborhood, so after the mods, the car could only be traded in select areas.

Good luck. I might also suggest to renew the torque tube couplers , if the condition of the rubber is unknown.

Depending on year you should also consider supporting mods such as:
1) updated alt bracket
2) metal power steering pulley (LS2 one is fine)
3) valve springs
4) updated trunions due to needle bearing issue
5) I have an auto tranny, but the stock clutch may not last as long
6) think about a boost and wideband guage
7) make sure you have a tuner that knows what they are doing
8) 2 bar map sensor if you plan to go speed density and again car year may determine need
9) do not put stock harmonic balancer back in. Go power bond at the very least
