Trying to use cigarette lighter for USB plug
I want to use my cigarette lighter socket to charge my phone. There is no power going to the lighter socket. I read on the forum that the lighter is connected to fuse #7 in the fuse box under the passenger side foot well. I checked it and sure enough the fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse, but still no power to the socket. What should I check next? Thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

After plugging in your phone and it did not show power, did you check the fuse to see if it blown again? If yes, maybe a PO taped into the hot line to the lighter and when you plugged in you device it was to much current draw and tripped the fuse. Just a thought.

Agreed. I actually pinched my connector tighter together so it would stay connected! This isn't one of electrical engineering's better ideas for a plug-in, for sure!!

It must be the connection as you suggest. The new fuse has not blown. So the connection is in the center console and not behind the ashtray assembly? The socket in my console tray works. The two sockets are directly connected? Thanks!
