Last time I drove the car there were no issues. It's been parked for 2 months. Got in it yesterday for a drive and turn the key, the starter solenoid engaged but the starter isn't turning. Could something in the starter be stuck from just sitting up for 2 months. Tried a new battery...needed one anyway.
Could be the high current contacts inside the solenoid, could be the brushes in the starter, or the battery cable connections at the solenoid. You may have to pull the starter, hope this helps.
Read on previous post to open the hood and take a piece of wood and place it against the starter taping the wood gently to see if the starter will engage and turn over. My electrical engineer neighbor says electric motors can develop a deal zone connection in its internal wiring if it is not used regularly. Some vibration will move it enough off the dead zone. I found this to be true in my C5 windows motors. Now I exercise them throughout the Winter at each weekly drive.

Not to mention the connection between the solenoid itself and the motor part of the starter (can sometime rot off), fetched up or worn bushings, a dirty armature commutator or a broken tracking gear inside the starter. Chances of it being short on brushes is a rarity.
So I was able to tap on the starter and it cranked right up. I barely tapped on it. Drove it for an hour. Will try to crank again tomorrow and see what happens.
