Took delivery of a 2003 Z06. Having issues with the HVAC system. Try to turn on A/C and light stays on for about 3 seconds then light goes off. No sound of compressor running. Motor had been pulled to be rebuilt and then reinstalled and I was told that A/C system was purged prior to pulling motor. Thoughts on why it's not working now? (not sure if system was recharged after motor being reinstalled)
Also, I can't change where the fan is blowing in the car. I can (barely) see the display showing and when I hit the button to change where its blowing the display changes, but the air blows a little up top and that's about it. No change in where it's blowing to no matter what selection I make on the panel. Advice or suggestions?
Where the air blows out of is controlled by vacuum. There is a small vacuum line that attaches at the back of the intake manifold to supple this vacuum. I suspect this line did not get reconnected when the engine was install. It is an easy one to overlook! You would have to put a set of gauges on the AC system to see if it has a changed in it.
Sounds like you have a few issues. I prefer to respond with the most likely causes. First, dim lights on the hvac is a super common problem. Look up absfixer.com and for $75 they will fix it. Second, blinking ac light is most likely low refrigerant. Some people will chime in and say it’s a number of other problems, but most likely it’s low refrigerant. Third, fan issue. Probably a vacuum leak but I’d also see do you have hvac actuator issues which is also very common. While you may have some odd ball issues that can cause these problems, I’ve given you THE MOST COMMON CAUSES, which is very hard to get on this forum these days. Lol. Everyone wants to show off their knowledge without the likely cause.

its actually far from “simple.” Soldering electrical boards may be easy for you since you’re a pro, but not for others. Especially in light of the many posts recently with someone losing power to their whole unit after the fix.

You guys are the best. I’m really hoping it’s as simple as a vacuum leak and a recharge.
Question about absfixer....I was on his website and it’s $75 for the fix. Do I send him my old climate control unit and he fixes and sends back or is he sending me a completely rebuilt one?

And there are many threads and vid's on how to fix it, look them up

The ABS fixer info was perfectly helpful but post 6 essentially only repeated what had already been said in post 4 and 5 as the most likely causes for the other issues.
There are very few ‘Vettes here in Scotland and certainly no “ABS fixer” but a guy I’ve met with a 2004 C5 just opened his HVAC and soldered it no problem. It had been done previously in actual fact so has survived two non-expert repairs. See picture! It’s back working despite not looking very pretty. Doesn’t look like a particularly difficult task but the OP could, to be fair, make up his own mind on how to move forward with it.
