I have been reading conflicting information about deleting the magnetic ride shocks from a model year 2004 Corvette. Some say it's not possible for this model year only. Others say you can do it with the GM Tech 2 scanner. Which is correct?

According to Lyle@C&S Corvettes in Sarasota Florida, the 2004 is the only MY C5 that can NOT be deleted/bypassed with plug in simulators, etc. C&S is one of the most knowledgeable shops in the country, and they definitely have a Tech II. Lyle has many Corvette how-to videos on YT. If he says it can't be done, he's probably correct.

But if the plug simulators are not used can't the feature still be deleted thru the Tech 2 ?
When I watched one of the C&S videos, he said that you could delete a 2004. But, in the comments below the video, someone pointed out that the simulators don't work in the 2004. He replied back that this is correct. The simulator manufacturers discovered that the devices burned up on 2004s in a couple of months - so they stopped selling them for 2004 models. Hence, you were stuck buying costly replacement shocks for 2004 models with F55.
But, he never commented one way or the other on whether the Tech 2 feature delete method (along with unplugging from the control box) works on a 2004 - unless that came along later on another video.

The video I saw, with Lyle in it, I'm 99.9% certain he said there's no sims, and no deleting on the 2004 ONLY. Gee, I'd sure like to know for sure, as in 100% certain. I thought he had said the sims will not work in the 2003 models, but it can be deleted on the 2003 model with a Tech II. But the '04 cannot be deleted or simmed.......

UPDATE!!!!!!
OK guys, just got off the phone with Steve, Lyle's partner at C&S. Steve didn't know for sure, so he asked Lyle. Lyle told him to the best of his knowledge, the '04 F55 option can't be simmed, because they burn out 1-2 months after the install, despite the manufacturer stating they work on 2004 models. Technically they do.......for a month or two. Lyle also said they haven't yet been able to delete the F55 option with a Tech II. FWIW. I would love to hear from an '04 owner who has been able to do it successfully, along with the EXACT procedure they used. Guess GM had to find a way to sell those $700/each shocks!!!!
So for those just tuning in, apparently the consensus is that if you own a 2004 Corvette with the F55 option you are stuck with it. Cannot use plugs and cannot be deleted by using a GM Tech 2 computer. No way possible to eliminate the program from the car. My '98 has the F45 option which will be deleted (by a Tech 2) very soon as I replace the shocks...

Are your shocks leaking, or performing poorly? I have the F45 on my 2000 Vert. Still work good@21 years old, with a considerable difference between the 3 settings. Sure, a side by side comparison with my car new, versus those shocks now, would probably reveal my shocks aren't what they once were. But my car isn't bouncy, and they don't leak......Yet. So I'm gonna stick with them
No my F55 are still working fine. Many people have successfully deleted the F55 shocks. This info is freely available on this site as well as some others.

I realize the F55 can be deleted. However, from what C&S says, it can not be deleted from the '04 models. This is what I've been told, and they know their stuff. But I don't have an '04 model. If I did, you can bet I'd find out for sure. Just curious, if your F55 is working fine, why would you not want to keep it? Even Ferrari licenses it from GM......

You would not want to keep it after it fails because of the high cost, which is around $2,000 to replace the f-55 shocks. I like the f-55 system but I would not pay $2,000 to replace them when they fail. Especially since the handling and ride would fine with ZO6 shocks installed. Also C&S is wrong so forget about them.

I'm aware of the ridiculous replacement prices. But until mine gives me trouble, I'm not gonna 'fix it'!! Well, I guess if you've been successful, and I'm glad you were, C&S is wrong. However, I won't forget about them. They do top notch work, for a very reasonable price. One of the very best Vette shops I've ever been to, and I've been to more than I care to think about!!

Just saying, don't go to them for removing the F55 option from the BCM.
It would appear that nobody listed here has successfully deleted F55 from an 04. We have one that says "follow the instructions" but doesn't specifically mention 04. We have another who claims someone is "wrong" regarding the ability to delete F55, but appears to have no qualifications to make the such an accusation.
Bottom line, without proof/experience, nobody has successfully removed F55 from an 04. Guess I'll be driving under 80mph for a while.
