Default Clutch/transmission sound

Hey guys. Having some trouble and need some input. I can try and get a video posted later but here’s the background. I bought the 04 z06 last July and the guy stated he got a new clutch in it but they didn’t replace the slave cylinder. Since then it has been making as sound like a bearing going out. When I push the clutch all the down (1-2 inches before the floor) it stops. Also, when I reach high rpms it almost sounds like a turbo spooling up. I’ve been going through forums and have come to the conclusion that it’s the torque tube bearings I think. And then I started it up a hole back and it was stuck in first and wouldn’t come out. Finally got it out and brake fluid was on the ground. After I replaced the fluid it went back to normal, but sometimes feels like it’s going to get stuck in gear again. I usually wait a couple weeks and that part is fine. I’m assuming that’s the master cylinder. Now my question is, should I replace the slave, tt bearings and master cylinder or do you think I could get by and just replace the master cylinder. Any advice/help would be much appreciated. Also, I live in an apartment and it’s parked in a parking garage so not much room to do much to it.

I suspect you know the answer, and hope someone will tell you a more palatable one. From your description, the slave and throw out bearing are shot - check that fluid level often, when it empties the reservoir you can be pumping air into the line. Not changing the slave when changing the clutch is heinous. I wonder if this drove PO to sell...
I’m betting you need a new slave, new pilot, possibly new master, and to go that far without at least looking at the TT bearings and couplers would be silly. And by all means add the remote bleeder GM should have.

It sucks u don't have a garage but other members have done it in a parking lot. You should check with the association on this. Another thing u can do is have all the part ready and pound it as fast as possible. How many miles?? If low ur bearing in TT will be fine but check then when changing bushings. It's pretty basic tools except for a big C clamp tool. And change everything thing out I would not care is I had 5k on the clutch. U don't want to do this again.

Default Thanks

Thanks guys. The car has 64k on it. I think I’m going to do the tt rebuild, slave and master cylinder. Do you think I should replace the clutch again? I’ve probably only put 1-2k on it since owning it and he stated he had it done 3k miles before that.

LOL wait tell you do all the work then see if its worth to change. JMI. In your situation with no garage you going to chance it. I don't want to spend your money but maybe when you get whole assembly out then make your decision. Who knows it might be easy so doing it again wont matter. And again it might last 100k. And i wouldn't trust him on the mileage. That's just me.

Where was the fluid on the ground in relation to the car? If it is dripping from the back of the engine, it is likely the slave. If it is near your clutch pedal, the master cylinder is suspect. Also check under the pedals inside the car. A master cylinder can leak to the interior.

Replacing a master cylinder is the least invasive. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like it is the issue or at least not the complete issue.
