Default Help! My vette is going NUTS!!! :(

Here's what happened- I was driving home from work last night in light rain, had just left about 5 mins ago and I go to roll my window down and I hear a clicking of a relay from behind the console or in the driver's door, but the window doesn't move. I try twice more and the 3rd time the whole panel goes dark, and still nothing happens when you push any of the buttons. Kept going down the road, I get a SUSPENSION INOPERABLE error, SERVICE ENGINE SOON, and REDUCED ENGINE POWER message on the DIC. Just then I notice Fuel and Oil Pressure gages are on zero, and temp is all the way to the right, quickly followed by LOW FUEL, LOW TIRE PRESSURE, MAX SPEED 80MPH, SERVICE TRAC CONTROL, SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING, and a few more I forget. I was waiting for something else like RIGHT WHEEL NOT SPINNING as I drove it home.

Ok I got home, turned her off, waited liike 30 minutes then went outside and started her up. First thing I noticed was the buttons still dont light up/do anything, and after letting her idle for 5 minutes or so she started flipping out again (same messages as above). I checked the fuses under the hood and they all look good, and I took the panel off under the passenger side floor and looked in there and its bone dry (I heard something about an AC drain hose leaking around there if it get stopped up). Tried to check the fuses there but the cover was stuck on something and I didn't want to break it so I let it be.

Anyway, does anyone have a clue what this could be? I have an appointment Monday at the dealership but I really can't afford to take off work so if its a simple problem (like a fuse or something) and you have some advice it'll be appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!

Mine has never gone quite that nuts, but ive had the lights go dim and service this that and the other and then it wouldn't start sometimes. The wires coming out of the fuse box next to the battery are on a post and the nut was loose and when they lost contact on a rough road or something it was screwing up. Another time that wasn't quite as insane I had to clean and tighten the battery cables. The damn computer is very sensitive to grounding hopefully yours is as simple though certainly no less frustrating. Good Luck

There is a connection (plug) for the door, that can be reached by pulling back the black rubber flex "tube" between the door and the body. Check that connection, clear your codes and see what happens. It may have come loose. Good luck. :)

Sounds like it might be a good time to check for battery acid leakage and AC drain blockage too.

This sounds very similar to a number posts. Check under the battery to see if it is leaking on to the computer directly below it.

OK I think I figured this one out- thankfully it wasn't a battery leak (the Optima Red Top was the first upgrade) or the drain hose leak.

I was playing around under the hood last Sunday and I noticed when I move the negative battery terminal around I could hear a relay clicking somewhere, so I just moved it over a bit, tightened the nut and no problems since. I even cancelled my appointment w/the dealer and it's been running fine since! NeptuneBill, thanks! You were right on the money!

Thanks also to everyone else who replyed to my thread: carpe dm, larrysb, CaptKirk, and tattooed. It's much appreciated and you probably saved me a few 100 dollars plus a lot of frustration!

See ya around,
