Just got an 03 Z, and am considering ET Streets for the Spring.
What size wheels do you guys use with the ETs??? 5 spoke 16 inch or what??? I thought the Vette Doctors or some other tuner offered a 16 inch wheel turned down to fit the C5 rear axle. Does anyone, and can a 15 inch wheel fit???
Do you run tubes in the ETs???
Do you drive them to the strip, or change to them when you arrive??? If you drive them carefully, can you drive them on the street for the short trip to the track???
Just got the car and want to get ready for Spring. Your input, please.

Do you run tubes in the ETs??? You dont have to, I dont
Do you drive them to the strip, or change to them when you arrive??? I drive to the strip, but its only 10 miles from my house. I have many friends that run them as their daily driver tire
If you drive them carefully, can you drive them on the street for the short trip to the track??? see above

comes with 16' rears (some grinding is required) and 17 fronts. I saw this set up and not to flame but the finish is not that great. Also the off set for the rear tires just barely clears the inner fender well. I prefer the firebird rim route since I got ET streets for 140 each, and Firebird rims for 25 bucks each. A friend at a dealer ship mounted & balanced for free. So for 320 I am running 1.7 60's.
Roger Vinci - Vinci Hi-Performance sells the CCW wheels and tires( 4" skinnies on the front and 11.5 X 16 MT/ET Streets for the rear) for around $2100 mounted and balanced with plain polished centers. The finish on my set was outstanding for a true polished aluminum racing wheel. No grinding was needed, just some minor adjustment on the upper ball joint cover (With a hammer) and the clearance was perfect. I have run them at 13 lbs. up to 118 MPH in the 1/4 so far with absolutely no problems. Just don't jam on the brakes (remember 4" skinnies on the front). You should get 60' times between 1.65 and 1.75 depending on your mods. And they are totally streetable, not to mention they score 100pts on the coolness scale!
Re: Some ET Street Questions, please (JR-CRUZN-C5)
Can anyone tell me what I need to grind down to make the ET streets fit on a 16in firebird wheel? Pics couldnt hurt either :) And what size ET streets should I order to put on y 16in firebird rims? I need to get 11's on them, I can't wait till spring :yesnod:
Well im also running the 99 5-star camaro wheels with a lil grinding
with a 26x10.5x16 E/T Street....
stock wheels on the front looking for skinnies
Love the CCW but they do cost, but look good!!!!
Two Camaro Wheels And E/T Streets cost me about 380.00 total
Best 60' Time Ever Pulled on them 1.49... Not likey to always happen though mainly hitting in the 1.56+ area
I was told by John at CCW that running E/T's out back without skinnies up front is very dangerous. Any thoughts?
All I know is that 95% of the cars that use a racing tire are running M/T Streets or Hoosiers on the rear with out any skinnies up front, with no problems. ( the tracks I attend)
running et streets with out skinnies is STUPID....DANGEROUS ...I DONT CARE HOW CHEAP YOU ARE...
YOUR ASKING FOR A WALL KISSING
I'm not sure why running without skinnies is "STUPID....DANGEROUS" I know many people that have been doing it for years without many problems and ill have to agree its about 95% of the people that run slicks or E/T streets dont run skinnies.... The people that do are looking to cut there E/T down a .10 or 2 with less weight and less tire touching the ground.
Would you please explain the differences in running skinnies and stock tires in the front - as them being safer than the other??
-I'm also one who is looking for skinnies, but not for safety reasons, but for less weight and a better E/T, in fact I thought skinnies were more hazardous due to the lack of traction and braking at the end of a 1/4 mile :steering:
So your imputs would be great on this subject... Thanks
Re: Some ET Street Questions, please (BLUBYU2002C5)
It is the type of tire in the front being radial and the rear being bias ply that makes the car sway float feel uncomfortable at the top end. I tried the ET Streets when My car was stock and running 103 mph and I was uncomfortable with it.
The same type tire in the front is supposed to make it more stable. I ran the CCW package for the first time this weekend and the track was windy and it stilled swayed too much for my liking. Hope it was the wind.
I can provide pictures of the grinding that was needed to fit the 16 fbody wheel but I am out of town. I will do it Friday if someone else has not done it.
PS did not pick up anything from the CCW setup compared to my BFG 315 setup in 60' both gave my current setup 1.62-1.65 60'.

Please provide some picture, I think of doing this very soon.
That is what I thought was being the fact that radials are up front and bias in back. However I ran the ccw rears b/c the fronts will not fit over my brakes(until I get spacers). So I did not run fronts for that reason NOT B/C I AM CHEAP. It did get a little squirly on me but for some reason keeping 700hp straight is going to be hard no matter what...
