Grinding 2nd?

2002 Coupe Manual,... when I come out of the gate hard and shift to second gear fast, I alway get a grinding noise. Gears hitting, teeth being chewed!! Never get that sound shifting slow, and normal. Don’t get that sound with a quick shift to third??

I am fairly certain the clutch is all the way in.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there a problem with the transmission??

could be a syncro going bad...

How old and what type of fluid?

Might try some Amsoil Torque Drive or other high quality fluid. Seems to help these trans a lot.

I had the same issue in my 04 6 speed, had it tore apart and they found a cracked 2nd gear synchro. I had them freshen it up since it had to come apart.
