Change fuel pump in 04 without dropping drivetrain?

Change fuel pump in 04 without dropping drivetrain?
Is there any way to change the fuel pump on a 04 without dropping the drive train?? I honestly do not mind cutting an access hole somewhere inside and make a cover... Has anyone ever done this?

If it's an automatic you might need to drop the rear cradle a little. If it's a manual you should be able to snake your hands up in there enough to get everything disconnected. It's a total pain in the *** to get the tanks out, best of luck to you.

I did my '04 fuel pump and jet siphon pump with my drivetrain out and it still sucked - majorly sucked - like bamboo chutes under toe nails sucked. And when your lucky enough to get everything out, you will find the old fuel pump has swollen so much from being immersed in gas for 17-18 years it won't fit through the hole in the fuel tank. You will need three hands using four tools while holding your mouth in just the right position to get it pried out. Then, getting the internal lines in the crossover reinstalled is the final kick in the berries. If you are doing it "just because you are able and there" like I was, don't. If you must, be patient and gentle - don't get frustrated. Good luck!
