My 99 dies intermittently. While I’m driving, I can coast and shift out of gear and restart and it starts up without issue. But It has also intermittently dies when I first start it. Then I turn the key to off and it starts right up. There are no codes and the even the check engine light does not come on. Its like someone just turns the car off.
Also, intermittently the car will turn over but will not start. I then Turn the Key back to off and it will restart without issue. I took the car to the dealer and they had it for about 5 days, drove it 18 miles and it never died on them and they too did not see any codes. I have had it back now a little over 2 weeks and at first it was fine, but it is back to randomly dying. What could cause this? I’m a bit nervous to drive because I never know when it going to die.
Sounds like maybe a bad Crankshaft Position Sensor…see if your Tach moves when trying to start the car…if no Tach movement may be the CKP !!…with no CKP you will have neither spark or injector pulse…the car will shut off quickly as you described !!…are you in Daytona Beach, FL ??…I know a great diagnostic shop in Melbourne. DON’T take the car to a dealership for diagnostics !!
I never thought to look to see if the tach is moving when i start the car. Thank you for the suggestion and I will take a look at that. Yes I am just outside Daytona. I figured If I said Deltona most would not know where that is. What is the name of the shop? I'm not very happy with the dealer at the moment.

Assured Auto Works in Melbourne…Brin Kline is the owner/tech…he is VERY sharp !!..I’ve enclosed one of the videos he’s done for his group…”Trained By Techs”.These guys are really “advanced” when it comes to diagnosing cars !!
As already mentioned the CKP could be the cause of the car turning off, but it could also be the Ignition switch, many corvette owners have experienced this problem.
