DTC questions
Today, again after the car sitting for a few days, I went out for "just a ride". I get in, turn the key, the engine fires right up, and a moment later, I get the ABS and traction control icons on the dash lit up, as well as the "DIC messages" stating "Service ABS" and "Service Traction Control". I went for a ride, anyway, and when I got home, I pulled the codes. I again got the P1416, and the C1214, but this time I also got a "60 IPC" B0516. When displaying the codes, the P1416 showed as current code, and the other 2 showed as hysterical codes.
The "low current" codes have me a little confused, as a new battery and a functioning charging system shouldn't be showing voltage drops. And for the B0516, the shop manual says it's due to the vehicle's speed sensor showing less than some incredibly low vehicle speed. Yeah, it should, as the car was stationary!!
Anybody have any thoughts as to why these codes are reoccurring?

Given that the ignition switch contacts seem to be a common issue, over time, and since we also seem to be seeing where certain electrical components are being discontinued, I looked into acquiring a new ignition switch. Rock Auto Parts had them in stock, so I ordered one. Given that there's a fair amount of disassembly of the console and lower dashboard, in order to get at the switch, I figured I'd simply install a new switch and be done with it. At my convenience, I can then inspect/clean the contacts of the original switch and keep it for "backup".
With respect to the active handling/ABS codes, I happened to be talking with a friend of mine, whose son works part time at a local indie repair shop, and was relating my issues. He called his son, who said that within the next couple of days, he could borrow the shop's "professional" scanner, and hook it up to the car. This unit apparently has the ability to scan ABS issues, which many scanners dont', so we can get a complete picture of what may be causing the codes to be set. That way, I'm not simply throwing parts at the car, hoping to find the problem, while wasting time and money.
