So I just got done with a 2,030 mile trip from Tennessee to Idaho on my way to my new Airforce base. The car was doing fine, until one night I left it parked and came back in the morning to it being completely dead, wouldn’t turn over or anything. So I got a new battery for it and it ran fine. Same thing happened, next morning it was completely dead, so I figured I had a dead fault short somewhere, so I was testing all the fuses with a multi meter to find that the BCM was using 3 amps of power when it should be in sleep mode killing my battery, so I decided until I can find that I’ll just take that out whenever I leave it for the night. So I put all the fuses back correctly and begin to leave and a warning pops up saying take out key wait 10 seconds, but I dismiss it and put it into first gear and try to leave but it stalls and dies, then a warning saying steering column lock pops up and it dies again. First the BCM and now this. Can anyone please help me to figure out what’s wrong because I know this would be expensive to get fixed in a shop.
Welcome to the Forum !!…get yourself a LMC5 from Compliance Parts to clear up your 2 MPH cutoff and “pull key”….also do the “brown wire mod” per the instructions…as far as the BCM get yourself a cheap amp clamp and you can at least see what BCM wire is drawing that current…3 connectors so you can disconnect each one and see which is drawing the current…I have the FSM for 2001 in case you need to know what wire does what !!…going to Mountain Home ??
Thank you all, and yes I’m stationed at Mountain Home Airforce base, and I checked my BCM and I already have the LCM5 connection for the service column lock, which is why I’ve been so confused
I had an older LMC5 and if I can remember I would occasionally get the 2 MPH shutoff…if I can remember right…LOL !!….I replaced it in August 2019 and this newer one had the brown wire on it to do that mod !!…like I said with low battery voltage you may see the Service Column Lock message !!…I would replace it and see what happens…does yours have the brown wire ??
