Factory setting i believe is somewhere around 225. So maybe GM might know something more than us, but there is a lot of internet truth out there and superbe knowledge. I always go with the internet side.
I might be wrong because i got this info off the internet.
Engines are more efficient between 190-220, good target temperature would be around 200. At higher temperatures the engine is more efficient, but then you have to consider the increase of inlet air temperature lowering horsepower .

FWIW, the quickest, fastest 1/4 mile runs I ever made were one after another, without shutting the engine off. The only change from stock at that point was a 160° T-stat. I'm a believer in the engine/trans/diff being hot (nothing overheated), with the coldest IAT (intake air temp) you can get.....

LS engine ??? I bet if the engine temp was a 1000 * it wouldn't matter as long the IAT is low as it's going to be, it's going to be the fastest its gonna run

Hey, MERRY CHRISTMAS, Helga, and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE!!! Yup, a 2000 LS1. Tuned with bolt-ons, my 2000 A4 ran a best of 12.89@109.97mph. This was thru stock exhaust manifolds, no cats, 3.15 G92 diff. Thru some research I found out the 2000 C5 LS1 had a .500 lift cam, I. & E.. 2000 C5 LS1s had the highest lift, and tighter LSA spec of 115.5°, of any base C5, base being the key, as the C5 Z06s had more lift in all years. I got it down to 12.50@114mph (OK, 113.9!) with Billy Boat shorty headers, which I thought was pretty quick for a stock internals LS1.....🌲🎅
My Corvettes at the track always seem to run the quickest right out the gate on the 1st run when the eng is coldest
I agree though running daily driver temps from about 185-200
Shocked to see my C7 run 225 all the time !!

I got HP Tuners w MPVI2, 160 tsat, and lowered hi speed fan to 190. I'm gonna lower it to 185. It makes more power now and the oil stays cooler and thicker as a result. My oil used to get up to 250f and thin out. Now oil is 212f. Not ever going back to those high temps.
