Last night the vette would not start for the 2nd time in a month. After a few attempts of re-inserting the key, it finally started. I noticed the security light stayed illuminated on the dash, so I figured it was a problem with the "pellet" being read off the key. I pulled the codes and they indicated a key cylinder fault and a loss of communications with the BCM.
Has anyone been through this before? I assume replacing the key cylinder should solve this problem, but that means a trip to the dealer since the part is expensive and I have an ext. warranty. Is there a way to adjust or clean the contacts inside the key cylinder?
