Is a bad blend door reason why the AC sometimes doesn't blow cold? What is the fix and where is it located?
In/under dash location. This may be the cause, or it could also be a compressor clutch going bad, or several things. One thing I'll recommend is pulling fuse #27 in the passenger footwell, and leave it out for 5 minutes. Disconnecting the battery WILL NOT work! Some say 1 minute, minimum, but I like to be absolutely sure. Search is your friend here. Best of luck to you...
A bad blend door actuator could be your issue, but there are other possibilities as well. You could be low on R134a, you compressor could be bad. The first step is to check your codes. then go from there.
If one side blows cold and the other side doesn't, it's likely a blend door not closing all the way on the warm side.. The actuators have nylon gears in them that can split, allowing the door not to go all the way into position. I've been all the way through this.

This could be the problem, but in my experience, if the car has climate control, the 2 or 3 times this has happened to me, car was low on refrigerant. This happened on my C5 AND a 2003 LeSabre. Each time, a recharge fixed it. The Buick went 400,000 miles, still had original A/C system!!! Only a deer collision took it off the road......
