Default 12v lighter port missing ground connection....

Does anyone know what the ground setup/wire looks like that goes to the ashtray 12v lighter/port? Mine has the power wire (orange?) plugged in, and it shows 12v on the DVOM, but there's no ground connection/wire. Was there a round eyelet crimped on the lighter? I can come up with a black (or green) wire to use as a ground wire, but would like see what the original ground wiring setup looked like. Barring that, what wire can I tap into under there in that area for a ground? Thank you, guys.....

I have the schematics I will add here. Not sure about an eyelet for the ground wire though. The lighter should have a black wire coming off of it for ground. The ground goes to G202 which is at the bottom of the passenger A-Pillar.

Here is a video showing where the ground G202 is

Thanks for posting. What I'm looking for is how that wire comes off the lighter. Hard to believe that a 'professional' could do such a hack job!!!

Here is a pic of a 1997-2004 lighter receptacle. Should have 2 slip-on plugs. One for the orange wire and one for the black one, unless it's been cut or lying loose under the radio somewhere.

Been a while since I have been in there. This is from a C5 dash removal thread. Shows the backside of the cigarette lighter before being removed. If so, looks like the wire for the ground is missing off your post. Looks like it is a center post + and outside of the lighter the - .

Thank you all for the advice, and pics. I tried to post this reply earlier, and it posted as "spoiler+", whatever the Hell that means!!!
I would really like to get this port working for a radar detector, but my lighter socket is different from these. It has the center as the 12v, but it's a round post, which the factory 12v orange wire clips right on to. But there's no provision for a ground.......

You should post a picture of your plug. Maybe it was switched out by a previous owner. The plug in my 04 has two wires on it and it just clips on. Just like in the picture. There is no way to ground the shell of the lighter plug without a ground wire since it's screwed into the plastic and isolated from ground. Maybe the ground wire broke off? Do you see a terminal that a ground wire would connect to?

No, I haven't found the ground wire, yet. I don't think the lighter socket has ever been changed, because I bought the car with 24,000 miles on it, still under warranty. It was an off-lease car, and the lighter always worked, until an idiot at a shop changed my 4 way flasher, and broke my console doing it. Terrible place. I don't see why he would've changed the socket, but I can see the dumb *** knuckle dragger yanking it out hard enough to tear the wires off. The orange wire looks like OEM, and it plugs onto a round pin coming from the back center of the lighter socket. It isn't a blade type connector. The OEM orange wire kinda pops onto the round pin, locking in place. I realise weird cigarette lighter connections aren't a 'thing', an everyday problem on C5s . But it's sure a gigantic PITA when it's your car!!!! You wouldn't think it would be such a problem, lol....
