Not working. I bought four new TPMS. Discount tire put them on, couldn’t get them to work, figured they didn’t have the correct tool. And they did not have any magnets.
I have a heavy duty magnet but the car never responded. How strong a magnet do I need?
I have a 1999, and I bought the ones recommended by Eckler. TPMS 17-43042 (1743013, 1743014) ) CLAMP MULTI FREQUENCY SMART SENSORS. It does state it is a Blank Sensor that must be used with a Smart Pro+ Programming Tool. Your Smart Pro+ programming tool must also be updated to the most updated version for this sensor to be read!. Wouldn’t discount tire have that tool?
When Discount Tire installed mine last week, they did not have a magnet. A regular strong magnet would not do it either on mine. [2002 c5]. I had to buy a donut style magnet then they worked like they were supposed to. However, mine were oem sensors for the 2002. I do not know about the "smart sensors". I bet my local discount tire does not have that tool.

I wish I had a dounut shaped magnet to try, they are like $30 new on Amazon. What I have read, I need to program them first with a Smart Pro+ Programming Tool with the latest software update. :-(

If they are universal sensors you need to program them before they are installed.. you then use an electronic tool to program them to the car after they are installed.
Another thing to remember is that we have all [well many of us] have spent money we should not have spent. I recently bought a battery and should have bought an AGM battery. Not a big deal, but a mistake all the same. The right sensors will make the tpms work like a charm. Find a way to eat the other sensors and go after it. I also found that Discount tire, and Im sure others, can install the sensors without rebalancing. Many of them also have the donut magnets. Mine said they didn't and then I saw one on the shop wall. We all laughed because they said they never use it.
ruttrow, the original TPMS part in the '97-2000 Corvette was #10438853 which has been replaced and is now interchangeable with the Schrader #28006. This is the one that has been recommended here on the Forum for a while now. The only programming required is using your DIC and a strong magnet. They're available from Rock Auto.for $25 @. https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/sc...)+sensor,12036
Forum Member bc6152 bought this one from Amazon... and says it fits around the valve stem on his wheels.
I have a similar magnet I removed from an old car speaker, but I have the C5 Z06 wheels and because of the ribs in the wheel had trouble getting it close enough to the TPMS. I used a couple of smaller magnets I could get closer to the valve stem.
Good luck... GUSTO

I had the same problem. I had it in programming mode, but would not program. A friend suggested I try letting air out of tire till horn beeped, then move to next wheel etc. I don't know why, but it worked perfectly. Good luck!

This "letting the air out" procedure was how the TPMS system worked on the 2010 Cadillac CTS I had. Wonder if these sensors came with instructions???
