Default Exterior lights won’t turn off

Well, the problem is here yet again.

So in the past I’ve had an issue where the DRLs, side markers, and tail lights would not shut off and be slightly lit when the car it shut off. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. If the issue occurs and slightly lights up when the car is on lock, the car alarm goes off. I found it it may because of the lack of current from them being LEDs, so I added resistors/decoders to try to remedy that problem. It fixed the problem…until now.

Just today, my car alarm went off (it was locked) and I found out those same lights are on. This time they’re completely on. I thought maybe I just left the lights on and forgot they were on. Unfortunately that was not the case.

At this point I’m thinking it’s maybe a fuse issue…either way I can’t just leave these lights running. I’ve never removed the fuses for DRL before (it’s 38 & 40 in the passenger compartment for left and right side). Further investigation led to discovering there were some notes on a metal box next to it. They indicated notes possibly related to my current problem.

Does anyone know what those notes may mean in relation to my problem if related? How do I solve this issue? This has been a reoccurring issue over many months and I am started to get extremely frustrated. Guidance or directions to a thread with a possibly solution would also be appreciated!

Notes on metal box. Possibly related to the problem? What box is this?

The box you refer to is the BCM body control module, it is probably the most important module besides the PCM. It controls lights, provides a ground to the TDR allowing the car to crank over. They are still available, or you can send them to rebuilders.

So getting this checked out (and possibly repaired) should fix the problem? Would this also remove the need for all the decoders and resistors on my LEDs too?

The decoders and resistors for the LED's would have to remain in place.

So according to the picture it looks like it came from Hurante Auto Repair. I have no idea where or what that place is as I am the second owner. Probably a dumb question, but would I need to try to make contact with them, or is there another place I could go to instead that may be able to work on BCMs (asides the dealership)?

The Internet is your friend, simply do a search on C5 BCM repair or rebuilders.
