I have been using Red Top Optima batteries in my 2002 Z06 since 2013 when I bought the Corvette. Replaced the first one in 2017 jus for peace of mind. It was working perfectly. I use the old one in the garage. It is always hooked to a Ctek 7002 when car is not in use.

So I guess the physical size of the 34/78 fit right in the battery well with no Bubba Bungees or tie-wire?
A 78 series battery is bigger than stock but fits perfectly and uses the stock hold down. You can also get a reserve capacity RC of 120 which is recommended for our cars. I use a Duralast Platinum AGM and quite happy with the choice.
My C-5 in an '01, which I purchased brand new, in June of '01. About the same time I bought the car, I hooked up with this website, and in '02, I began hearing about the "leaking battery syndrome", which was striking Corvettes, at the time. I pulled the OE battery, and put it in my "winter car", and replaced it with an Optima Red Top, and the car has had nothing but a Red Top ever since. As "laurent_Z06" mentioned, I replace them every 4-5 years, just for the peace of mind, and generally put the old Optima in one of the other cars in the "family fleet". I recently replaced the one in the 'Vette, and I went with the Group 78 Red Top.
I won't use another Optima battery. There a better (way less expensive and lighter) batteries out there. My last Optima red only went 28 months and they're made in Mexico now not in the U.S.
Walmart EverStart MAXX, made by Johnson Controls, excellent warranty. I use them in all of my vehicles and have never had a problem with them.

Model/Group 78 or 75 can be used in the C5 Corvette. I use the 78.
