Ive seen and read a few threads on the engine install from the top, I have my torque tube out at this time. None of the threads mention dropping the front subframe, and one mentions doing it only if the torque tube is not out. I tried this a few times and it seems there is no way to do this without dropping the subframe a few inches, correct?... even when I have everything lined up you hit a point you are hitting the aluminum lines on the fire wall.... thoughts?
I didnt pull the motor it was out when I got the car....

Appreciate the help.
I think I dropped inch. Had no problems
I left TT in
Did that require disconnecting the shocks, brakes, control arms and drive shaft?
I have removed and reinstalled the motor from the top. It's easier than many would have you believe! One extra note of caution, though. If you have an A4 car, there's a small clamp with, I believe, a single socket head cap screw that binds the input (male) splines of the torque tube with the output (female) splines from the flex plate. If you don't loosen that bolt, your engine will not move forward, period. Hope this helps.......
You need a way of adjust the angle of the engine as you are going down. I did it more than once. Dropped the cradle a little just to help but never took it off the studs.
