The 1255 code is usually the death code of your EBCM but, there is about 2 dozen other codes that will trigger that light to come on
Here is how to pull your codes
Do you ever see "Active Handling Warming Up"? Just asking, because the steering sensor can cause a "Service Traction Control" and "Service Active Handling". Don't mean to confuse you, because you're getting a "Service ABS System" code, which isn't exactly the same. I have a 2000 Vert. If your EBCM is trash, there's a sticky on how to upgrade to an '01-'04 EBCM, which are still available new (last I knew!). The EBCM for our cars ('97-'00) is no longer available new. They're available only in salvage yards, used. They are also usually at least $1,000.00!!! So, as posted above, the 1255 code is a bad thing. But it could also be a connection/wiring issue, so before you trash it, make sure you check out everything!!
The ABS and Service Traction Control is displayed....
Yup, the ABS code is the most important one, for sure. You can probably clear the DIC after a few miles, but the yellow ABS and skidding Corvette lights will still be on. Sorry to hear about the 1255. I have a 2000, and it's kinda scary thinking about that 1255 code!! As much of a PITA as this code is, not to mention the price, and risk, of buying a used one, maybe we '97-'00 owners should start holding funeral services for our EBCMs!!!

All the U codes are communication problems in the Serial Data Line and seem to be confined to the Left and Right door control modules
I would check you grounds https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tml?forum_id=1
and the connections in the accordion tube
