I'm looking for a step-by-step procedure to remove the factory air filter & install a Blackwing on a 2001. Tech Tips has a procedure with lots of pictures but little verbiage. I need more detail. Any idea where I can get a detailed procedure?
I'm not sure what you looked at but this procedure is the best I've seen, http://www.c5forum.com/diy/donaldson.php
I just installed one this past weekend and these instructions were more than adequate. It is a really easy procedure once you get started. Took me about 30 mins from start to finish and it was the first time I ever touched my engine. You can do it, just go for it.... You can't get in any real trouble with this modification. Good luck..........

:iagree: It took me about 20 mins. the hardest part is getting the blackwing over the gromets that go up front. I found the easiest way was too unscrew the gromets from the shroud and insert them in the blackwing, then screw them back in. Just remember to unhook both the connections my brother ripped one of his off :) otherwise it's a very easy install

the tech tip above is actually very helpful. it is nearly impossible to screw it up once you get started - and the tech tip becomes clear as you get going. it more or less comes down to taking the stock filter and housing out and putting the blackwing in. it's really that simple. :seeya
Follow the above tech tips, but even without them I think that you could easily understand and perform the install. Just look at what you have as stock, and what new is going in, and you will be able to do it fine.
