DIC screen doesn’t power up, starter does nothing.
Hello, hope you all can help. Drove my car (98 Coupe) a couple weeks back, came home shut it off. About an hour later I went to start it and there was nothing. When I insert the key the bell dings and the seat moves into position. The DIC does not light up when the key is turned once. The starter does nothing when the key is fully rotated. The headlights and passenger interior light work. The radio does not power up but the climate control blower does. Based on some other post I decided to do some self diagnostics. The battery is fully charged even charged it more. Checked battery under load it checks out fine (Battery is only a year old). Checked all fuses in the fuse block on passenger side floor, all OK. Removed ignition switch, verified all functions via YouTube video (cleaned contacts while I was at it). Key resistor checks out just fine. Jumped red and purple wire on theft relay, engine turned over just fine. Thought maybe the relay wasn’t functioning properly as I did not hear/ feel it switch when the key was turned. Change the relay no change.
Can anyone provide more advice as to what to look at? DIC board, BCM? Another Relay? Sensor? Ground? Appreciate any help that I can get. Thanks in advance.

You will have to do voltage checks on the TDR socket, find a ground for the negative meter lead and insert the positive meter lead where the small solid yellow wire at the TDR socket, you should have 12v when the key is held in the start position. The next step is to find 12v on one side of any fuse on the IP fuse box place positive lead on fuse and negative meter lead on the yellow black stripped wire at the TDR socket, ignition switch should be on the run position, meter should read 12v doing this will tell you what polarity is missing and not energizing the TDR coil.
Hello, thanks for the suggestion. So I checked for voltage on the yellow wire with the key in start position and that was just fine. Checked for ground on the black striped yellow wire using the positive on the passenger lamp socket and the negative on the yellow wire and with the key in run there was nothing. Double checked this by placing the negative on the BCM module ground and it showed the 12 volts. So from what I’m seeing on the wiring schematic this ground comes out of the BCM. Am I reading this correctly and if so does this means there is an issue with the BCM, other?

Seems like the BCM is at fault here, you can remove and reinsert fuse 25 to reset the BCM, or disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes to do the reset as well. Resetting the BCM like this only works once usually, and you have to do it everytime to get the car to crank. Recently helped someone with the same problem, he sent his BCM to a repair shop which solved the problem.
Thanks again for the reply. I’ve actually been disconnecting the battery anyways in between each check I’ve been doing. That being said is are there any BCM repair service(s) you recommend for this over others?

Sorry, I personally have never had problems with my cars BCM, a internet search might help, maybe somebody on this forum can recommend a BCM repair service?
I gave Mr . Martinez the link for G7. I sent mine there because I kept hitting a dead end at the BCM on my '98. It came back and the car started . Also I never could get the remote to program and that works now also.. Did you send yours to them? If so what where the results or did you find the problem. Thanks. Dennis
