Default Need help with sporadic seat memory.

I've got a 2002 convertible, M6, 48,000 km (28,000 miles). It has had one collision in 2009, $900.00 damage passenger side . Last seen at GM Dealer in 2003. The only maintenance I could find was a fuel pump replacement and left front headlight replaced, both at 20,000 km (12,400 miles).
When I first got the car, the seat would move into driving position when I inserted the key into the ignition and when I removed the key, it would move back. Now the seat sometimes moves into driving position when I insert the key. When the seat doesn't move, I push the Memory 1 or 2 buttons and usually that will move the seat into driving position. When that doesn't work, the seat will move into driving position if I push the button at the side of the seat and that button has worked consistently so far. The seat will always move back when I remove the key from the ignition. I sure would like to get that seat moving normally again.
I have not cleaned any of the grounds nor have I checked the fuses.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Mark

One more thing, the headlights no longer pop up when I start the car but they will pop up if I turn on the headlights.
Cheers,

You have to unlock the car with the fob corresponding to the memory position.

Fob 1 will "arm" the car for memory 1. Fob 2 will "arm" the car for memory 2. Then, as you know, when you put the key in the ignition it returns to the associated memory position.

I bet the "not returning to the memory position" happens when you park in your garage and dont lock the car(and thus dont unlock it) right?

THIS.... I did not know. That explains my sporadic seat movement. Thanks for the knowledge.

FYI, mine has never failed to go to position if I press the memory button associated with the fob / key being used. I don't know what would happen if using the other fob / key. That might need manual movement intervention.

Well rjacobs, I just tried the car and it works just fine after I locked and unlocked it. Wouldn't you know it, there's a large #2 on the back of the key fob and of course the other fob has the #1. Thank you very much for the heads up about locking the car. I'm going to plead ignorance re Corvette do's and don'ts, due to short term ownership, just got the Vette last Tuesday. Thanks again rjacobs, you have made my day.
Cheers,
Mark

Yea its an odd system. I have the "easy exit" turned off on my car because of it. I rarely lock the car so it was just finicky... "is it going to move forward, do I push the button, **** I cant push the clutch pedal all the way down, etc...". So I just turned it off and am careful getting in and out as to not destroy the bolster.

The main and only thought in my head was how am I going to drive the car it the damn seat movement quits completely. It was a bad start to my day. I'm going to check out the "easy exit". Might be able to use it.

If your seat moves back when you shut off the car you have "easy exit" turned on... I think its called "easy exit" in the options menu. I turned it off as getting the system to operate constantly was a pain for me...and I know how to make it do it, I just rarely lock the car.

And the seat motors in these cars seem to be very reliable. The bushings in the worm gear are a different story, but the motors themselves I dont read of to many issues with them.

Thanks for the info on the bushings and seat motors. Good to hear about the reliability. Yes, my seat moves back when I pull my key from the ignition. I like that "easy exit" set up.
Cheers,
Mark

One more tip. Just press the unlock button on your fob to get the memory seats activated. It doesn't matter if the car was locked or not.
