I'm thinking of installing a wireless backup cam. Anyone done this, if so, are you happy with it? With the wireless, I can install it myself plus I won't have anyone messing with my dash.
Cheers,
Mark
Doing it right, into a double-din head unit is a little involved. I use a Boyo Lic plate cam into an Apline ILX-650 head unit. Had to buy the Metra double-din console to make it all work. The Boyo is wired, but some form of wiring is unavoidable. Mine clicks on with the reverse gear and has swinging marker lines that work with the steering wheel.
How are you planning to view the image if you don't go Double Din?
With the Vette, I don't want to screw with the dash so the monitor will sit on a pedestal that will fit into the coffee holder and plug into the lighter. The monitor (wireless) will sit far enough away so it won't interfere with shifting. The camera will be attached to the license frame and hooked up to the reverse lights. I did something similar with my Tacoma except it is wired. Works fine.
Cheers,
Mark
I have the TOGUARD 2.5K Mirror Dash Cam with waterproof wireless set-up. It works very well. I have the one you can use 2 cameras with. Very easy install. Color is great, and the night vision.

Which did you buy? and don't you actually have to run at least one wire from the camera to the display. I wanted a wireless bu cam, but they all seemed to need some wiring, so i gave up.
I hooked up power for the monitor to the back up lights. Ran the wires along the passenger side alongside the body so it's out of sight, then just before the back seat, the lines are exposed that go to the back of the consul. I bought a DoHonest HD 1080P Digital Wireless BU camera and monitor kit on Amazon. It's ok, but be careful when to remove the plastic from the wires, the wires are almost as thin as hair. If you find something with beefier wires, easier to work with. I made the the tube base from PVC and the oblong flat plate the monitor sits on is aluminum. The oblong plate keeps the monitor clear for shifting into reverse and doesn't obscure the AC controls. I put fishing weights in the bottom of the tube to keep it stable. It does the job which eliminates the fear of reversing without seeing what's behind me. The frame for the cam allows it to sit nice and high and out of sight.
