Default G-2 High-Flow MAF Sensor

Has anyone checked the G-2 MAF sensor and it's ability to accurately report increased airflow (grams /sec) to the pcm? The website for LG Motorsports states that it has been recalibrated http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog...duction&car=c5. So with ported heads , cam, longtube headers and ported TB will this MAF allow the pcm to adjust to the mods? :steering: :steering:

Interesting.
But won't it require PCM MAF Table changes to support more than 58 lb/min??

Good question-I don't know. There seems to be a shifting opinion that MAF tables should left unchanged on modded NA motors and make all changes in injector pulsewidth. Opinion is, as I understand it with my limited knowlege, that GM spent BIG BUCKS developing the software and we need to work with it (i.e. Output adjustments) not change it. would this MAF provide more accurate input??
Thanks for the reply MellowYellow!! :steering:

From looking at the catalog #s on the LG site, this appears to be a Granatelli Motorsports MAF. The way they are recalibrated is by using a resistor to change the values that it reports to the PCM. The changes it makes may or may not help. On my car the GMS MAF helped reduce a part throttle rich condition and it advanced the timing. It also leaned the mixture at WOT. They flow much more air the "97-'00 stock MAF which will benefit all "97-'00 cars.

While this is a good mod for a '97-'00, the '01 up come with a much larger MAF. A lot of outfits don't sell a MAF for the '01 up cars because there is little or no benefit to be had from it.

As you have an '01 you already have a larger MAF compared to earlier cars and since it's a ZO6 it doesn't have a screen either. I would put the money towards tuning and forget the MAF.

SFVetteman-Thanks! I'm planning on tuning after I add mods (H&C, Long tube headers, ported TB etc.) I'd rather not rescale the MAF with LS1edit and rescale the injectors instead. Thought maybe this would help with more accurate airflow sensing. Back to the drawing board....  :steering:
