Looking at replacing the low beam on my 2002 c5z which afaik is still using the stock bulbs and they are...well, kinda garbage
I have seen quite a few threads about this but a lot of the suggestions I have seen mentioned are products that are no longer available and a lot of threads end up in a debate as to which type of bulb is best. I am not looking for the best, just looking for something that is plug n play (no additional wiring/ hardware required and that won't interfere with the popup headlights going up/down; although having to modify the tab of the bulbs to fit is fine) and is better than the stock bulbs and >$60 or so.
I changed mine, quite a while ago, as I started my workday at 6AM, and in the early spring and late fall, I was heading off to work in the dark. However, I retired some time ago, and find that I'm not out in the dark nearly as much as I used to be. However, I went with the Sylvania Silver Star bulbs. Don't know if they are still available, but they did help quite a bit....
(Euro car) I have changed headlight bulbs for Osram Night Breaker. They light quite satisfactorily. I hope they are available in the US. By far the easiest way, how to improve night driving.
I went with the Hikari LEDs for both highs and low. Much better then stock and so much more reliable then the HIDs the car came with from the previous owner. Try not to get anything higher then 6000k. Higher Kelvin ratings will start to perform poorly in inclement weather. The blue light bounces off water particles and your visibility starts degrading (over simplification of course).
Make sure the bulbs you get have the LED elements as close together as possible. That way the light distribution will mirror that of a standard bulb and your stock headlight reflectors will perform correctly.
