Well i just got back from the muffler shop. I had the magnaflow x-pipe and the corsa pace car(indy) system installed. And they sound nothing like the sound clips on their web sight. Now to my defense, I know that sound clips wont sound exactly like they do in peson, but they should sound similar. Which they dont. And i even called them before I ordered them and asked if the car on their site was stock except for exhaust, which he told me was except for the x-pipe. So what gives? The car on their site has a way higher pitched scream, which is the only reason i went with their kit. Im not sure but since they are a chamber style muffler they probably wont sound any different in time? Im now thinking that their car must have long tubes headers without cats, or even heads and cam, who knows. So what im asking is how do i get my car to sound like the recording on their site? And they should get rid of the sound clips on their site because its false advertising! Thanks Sean :cry :cry :cry
Now before everyone tells me how great theirs sounds, if you read my post i didnt say anything about it not sounding good. It just doesnt sound anything like the car on their site does. Does anyone agree with me on this one? Check their site out and let me know what ya think.
I read my post again and it seems very negative. Im sorry for that. The exhaust does sound good. My wife actually loves it. And the fit and finish is great, its just not what i expected. I just need to get it to sound like the car on their site. Thanks
The only way to be sure of a particular exhaust system sound is to listen to that sytem on a car in person. Sound clips are not accurate and don't listen to others about their systems. I almost bought the Corsa Indy's because everyone on this forum said they are the greatest in the world (now it seems the tide has turned because alot are selling them and now the Borla Stinger's are the best). I actually listened to the Corsa's (with an X pipe) and thought they were okay but nothing great. It was what my wife said that convinced me not to get them. She said " that car sounds just like our boat", and she was right. I decided to stick with the stock exhaust since there are no horsepower to be gained, only noise.
Atleast you got the Magnaflow X!!! That was a good choice.
Actually, your cat-back system will probably need some time for break in? My Magnaflow system was much tamer when I first had them installed on the car. Now, after breaking in the sound is much nicer.
I assume the same thing will be true for the Corsa system?

Ditto about the "sounds like our boat comment." When I was shopping for an exhaust, I listened to many systems in person before I bought my exhaust. Thank goodness I didn't jump onto the Corsa bandwagon, because the motorboat sound would have driven me nuts. Everyone says their exhaust system is the greatest. If you listen to that when shopping, your setting yourself up for dissapointment. The only way to go is to listen to exhaust systems in person. :yesnod:
Have you heard your car from the outside as it's driven past you? I couldn't tell a heck of a lot of difference after I installed my Corsas either. I had my wife drive past me as I stood in our driveway. What a difference. The car sounded awsome! Try it. I'll bet you'll like it!
The car will sound different from the outside. Maybe that recording was taken from the rear of the car and not the interior? I have the Corsas and I had no Idea how good it sounded until I saw a video tape of me driving by on a Road Course. It sounded better outside the car than inside.... Go figure.
That's why I always suggest hearing first hand any exhaust system. While I love my Corsa Indy's they may not be someone else's cup of tea.
Understand one more thing, the Corsa's will change tone as they age. I'd put some miles on the car and see if the expected change isn't more to your taste.
Just get that A&A exhaust mod done to them Corsa's. That will make them much louder, especially on WOT.
I put on Andy's A&A exhaust mod with a cross pipe on my stock system and the car sounded a lot better---and it was a heck of a lot cheaper too. But the thing is, it continued to get louder and better over time. I've probably had it on for maybe 20K miles and really enjoy the improvement. I had a guy drive by with some Corsa's and I actually like mine better. The only thing is that I have some resonance around 2200 rpms and a different system might be able to get rid of that..I just don't know. But right now I am happy with how everything turned out.
YA plus I bet there is a slight diference in sound having the MagnaFlow X then the Corsa X. I have the Corsa X with mine it sounds very similar to the vid. I was alittle disapointed with it at first without the X pipe. Sounded like a freekin diesel. But with the x I was alittel more impressed. After a while with the miels it is getting better, but it likes to pop here and there at high RPMS with my A4. I heard it before on another car and was impressed, inside the car it sounds ok but outside it sounds alittle different outside. Of course my LT Headers I am putting in after Christmas will make a huge diference I am sure :D oh and gutted Cats too :nono:  :D :D
With a user name like ShtnOnu I'll bet you're not happy with too many things. I like my Corsa Indy Daytonas a lot - give them some time if you still don't like them sell them and get something else. :)
I just want to say THANK YOU sooo much BOB. I even liked your comment "With a user name like ShtnOnu I'll bet you're not happy with too many things." Those were the exact replies I was looking for. Instead of reading my post and answering my real question, you decide to get hurt because im not as happy with my exhaust as you are with yours. All I wanted to know is how to get my car to sound like the one on their site. But Im sure that their car must not have cats to get that high pitched scream. And again THANKS BOB
