Just to clear somethings up. I posted this for help, not to upset members with the corsa exhaust. If you have it and you like it them I am very happy for you. So please instead of telling me how lame I am for not liking it, or how great yours sounds. Can anyone tell me if the car on their site sounds like it my have headers without cats? If so then that is what I will be doing next. Because their car sounds plane wicked! Have you also noticed that the competition ti recordings sound almost identical to the pace car system?
Thanks Sean
The precats on the newer cars have an effect on the sound. My 2000 with Corsa Indys sounded awesome. I traded on a 2003. Did not sound the same. :(
But guess what??? I removed my exhaust (with cats) before I traded (swapped a 2002 system, thanks Tom!) and installed my 2000 exhaust on the 2003 (w/xpipe) and it now sounds just like the 2000 did.
Sean,
If you wanted the higher pitched "exotic car" sound, you should have gone with the Corsa Touring Edition, not the Pace Car Edition. Here is a quote from their web site:
CORSA Touring Edition – "Crisp exotic car sound, quiet cruise with no resonance."
CORSA Pace Car Edition – A "bolder and more aggressive" sound than the Touring Edition, and is most evident during full throttle - but comfortable and quiet during cruising speeds with NO resonance.
I have heard both. I have the Pace and it is definitely deeper than the Touring. In my opinion, the sound track that is on their site is NOT the Pace Car Exhaust, but its the Touring Exhaust. I'll bet you anything that they just put the sounds on their site just to give you an idea. Not realizing someone would order it without talking to them first. They don't even have the Touring sound file listed, only the Pace.
I fell your let down Bro.
I lost hp when I installed Indy's on my Vette and couldn't wait to get home from the dyno to take them off. Sounded way to limpy for me and were a total waste of money IMHO.
Alot of people think there the greatest thing since sliced bread so I guess it's each there own.
Have you heard the pace car setup with long tubes and no cats? Thanks for the reply. I just listened to the recording Thanks
Yes I have and its VERY loud and brawny, not the high pitched sound you are looking for. Maybe you should talk to Corsa directly (if you haven't already) and see what they say.
Also, did you get them from a vendor on this site. If you did then they would have definitely been able to set you up with the EXACT sound you want by knowing the year and also if you had long tubes, cats, cam, etc. I'm not trying to start anything, except that talking with a true C5 specialist is invaluable when it comes to things like this.
Like others have said, you can't go by the sound clips, there are too many things to take into consideration when listening to a sound clip of an exhaust system, like the quality of your computer speakers, how the sound clip was recorded, what year the car on the sound clip was (pre cats or no pre cats), etc.....
I listened to those sound clips when I was shopping for my exhaust system, I HAD to listen to the system in person to really decide if I liked them. I don't have an x pipe because I was told (by corsa) that it would "tone down" the sound of the indys, I like the sound of them without the x pipe!
Have you heard the indys without an x pipe?
maybe the x pipe is your problem?
mine have a higher pitched exotic sound that the indys with an x pipe.
Buckmaster which exhaust do you like better? Is the touring just a quieter version of the Indy's? Or is it a totally different tone. And would you say that either of your systems sound anything like the recording on their site? And yes I have had someone rip past me in my car. Still not what I thought it was going to be like. THanks
Dont worry about it Bob. When I setup my account someone already had my name as a user name. So it was just a joke(for fun) I didnt know it would offend. Im not going to lie it sure did **** me off at first, but then like most stuff that does I get over it. Yeah I think I need to hear the touring system. Too bad I dont know anyone in my area with that kit. I especially want to hear the tourings or the indy's with longtubes and no cats. Anyone in norther cali with this setup? If so beers are on me. Thanks
