Default "Service Ride Control"

Just passing along an FYI for some that may experience an intermittent "Service Ride Control" message on the dash.

I had this message pop up over night. 5 drives and manual resets but it kept coming back. Went in the garage to clean my grounds and do some tinkering to chase the issue. Low and behold...I found the connector at ground point G102 (behind passenger headlight) was slightly unplugged. Once I plugged the connector back in right the service light went away.

Sometimes we get lucky and the fix takes two seconds and costs $0. Pays dividends to always check electrical connections when error messages pop up...and clean your ground points in these cars.

Yep, same here. Last spring I took it out after a long winters sleep and got about 20 mins from
the house and up pops the service ride control message, did a u turn and headed back to the barn.
First ground I cleaned was g102. I figured a good starting point, cleaned it up, cleared the code and took it for a spin and code never returned. I love an easy fix. So yes, after all these cars are 20 something years old and grounds could use a good refreshing.

Does the faulty ground just throw a code, or actually cause a malfunction?

In this case it was just a code. Ride Control functioned as it should. There have been other instances where the codes from a bad ground will actually cause a disfunction.
