Hello. I've got a question about my TPMS system. Every time a start my car I get a warning my left rear tire is flat. After about a minute of driving it turns off and all is good. Yesterday, I added a little air to 35 PSI in all tires. This morning when I turned on my key I went through my information center and it told me the pressure in all 4 tires was good. However when I started the car and began to move the warning that my left rear is flat still came on. Seems like the sensor is working since it's telling me the correct pressure, but I can't explain the warning. Is this simply a sensor battery going dead and acting flaky? I'm on a few Corvette sites on FB too and they suggested just replace all 4 sensors. Have any of you experienced this same problem, and if so, what did you do to fix it. I appreciate any help. Thanks guys/gals.
When this started happening to me it was a signal the batteries in the TMPS sensors were starting to go. Save yourself a headache and do all four at once.
I'm not sure how old they are since I haven't had the car that long. They may very well be overdue for replacement. What I'm wondering is if that warning I get will affect the car physically. The warning says "left rear tire flat" Then it says "limit speed to 55mph" What I don't want to happen is that the car will limit me to 55 mph because it thinks I have a flat.
Ok, well that's good to know. Since the system will tell me what my tire pressure is on all 4 tires, I think the car is reading all 4 sensors. It's just when I start the car and begin to move that it thinks the one is flat. It's like it loses communication temporarily and then comes back. Again, could just be a battery that is almost dead in that sensor.
I know my TPMS is in the vast minority, but all 4 are accurate......and 23 years old! I have 2 others in a set of 10.5" wide thin spokes repository I bought in 2004, and those are good, too!!! I think all 6 should go to the Smithsonian!!!
