I just replaced torque tube on my c5 I’m assuming I installed everything correct but now when I hit first gear and I press the gas it knocks my shifter out of gear so now I have to start with second gear every time.. can this be just a adjustment issue with the shifter …. There were no prior problems before my repairs anyone have any tips please let me know I appreciate it .
Welcome to the Forum, Marvin, and congratulations on your C5!
Lot of great members and helpful info in the C5 sections at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-1997-2004-2/.
I would encourage you to post your question in the C5 Tech section. This is more of a "hello" area and the "right" people may not even see your question.
My guess would be a bent clutch fork …but then again it could be in the linkage inside the trans it’s self …it will need to a part again either way most likely clutch forks are often the culprit of gears not go into their destination fully and clutch slipping can occur as well depends on how bent the part may be …

I think you mean shift fork, not clutch fork, as the C5 does not utilize a clutch fork.
Can't imagine this man bent a shift fork in the trans by replacing his torque tube.
What he definitely DID DO while replacing the torque tube was remove the actual shift linkage that connects the shifter to the transmission itself. Did the OP correctly and securely reattach that linkage rod to the shifter box? It doesn't sound like it.
simple fix: try adjusting the 4 bolts which hold down your shifter.
i remember i had bolted down my shifter too far back and the shifter would pop out of gear. then i re-bolted the shifter slightly forward from where i had it and the problem never happened again.
I don’t think this is his issue …most likely the trans is coming out for this one …he could have not set the shifter rod distance and pin correctly it’s lower shift mechanism…doesn’t hurt to re align it up re check action for any improvement

When you grab the shifter move it side to side and forward and aft , Does the shifter box move at all? Stock (NON ZO6) shifters have rubber shock bushings where the shifter mounts to the TT.. They are well known to rot and allow the shifter to get sloppy at the mounting points. You can and should get the upgraded aftermarket bushings.
Are the four fasteners that mount the shift lever to the shift box tight and properly secure the shifter to the box?
Did you preform a shifter alignment? If NOT, I strongly recommend starting there first. The shift handle should be straight up when in Neutral. There is an L shaped pin on the front of the shifter. Thats the shifter zero pin
. That pin fits inside a hole on the front snout of the shift box Thats the shifter zero pin. Loosen the shift box bolts, and move the box forward and aft until that pin slips into the hole and locks the box shift yolk.. . Then tighten the box bolts. If your pin is missing, you can use a drill bit that fits snuggly in the hole.
If you put the trans in gear and let out the clutch, does the drive train (TT) move a lot? IT SHOULDNT!!! If it does, You could have a bad engine mount or have damaged the rear differential mount during the TT replacement. Chalk the wheels depress the brakes and apply some significant torque to the drive train. Have some one watch the drivers side engine mount and see if the engine raises up off the mount. If it does, its BAD. Have some one watch the rear diff mount and see if it properly supports the diff.
Check all that out and let us know how it turns out.

So after making a mistake my self ….Sir when I put up your lower shift box did you adjust it correctly? Reason being if it’s to far forward your not getting into the gate for 1st maybe re adjust your lower shift box two bolts hope it helps …
