If 1.7 rockers are replaced w/1.85 do I really need to change the cam? Of course I would change springs and retainers. Rumor is this setup works and picks up 20+HP and 13 TQ.

Kp, I felt the same way(rumor) then the Guy that told me about it faxed me an article from Popular Hot Rodding, Feb 2003 the latest one out.
They took a C-5 LS-1 Changed the rockers w/SLP 1.85 new springs and retainers. The article walks you through the change. They dynoed the car before and after, 2-3 hrs start to finish w/ final dyno Hp from (only mod exhaust)310.6 to 330............... TRQ from 325.2 to 338.5
A vendor wants to step up and send me the 1.85s...I have the next 2 weeks off, have 2 solid dynos with my current mods (intake and exhaust) and access to a reputable dyno (Mike Norris) for the after results :)
Re: Ls1 Rocker arm package or ??? (2000 Pewter Hardtop)
I read that article....they did in fact pick up 20 rwhp from the 1.85 rockers. I was thinking about doing this. Pretty easy job compared to doing a cam swap.
Re: Ls1 Rocker arm package or ??? (2000 Pewter Hardtop)
I forgot to mention that I already did this to my car If you think you will get that much, I will be happy to sell you my 1.8 Crane Full Roller Rockers, studs and pushrods for $500.
The kit includes rockers, guide plates and pushrods, lists for $900, lowest price I found was $700, factory ZO6 cam and springs can be had for less than $400 and that will get you 20-30 hp and pass emissions...Cam install is a bit more difficult, but is the route I would go, if I were you...

The car had 60K miles on it.
Well, I took a pretty well tuned LS1 car (338rwhp/338tq) and put the rockers + SLP springs on it and picked up a whopping 2-3rwhp with the same a/f and dyno I always dyno at. Sold them three days later on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1872444917
I put a small cam in the car and picked up 20rwhp/tq.. Its possible some years/cams may respond a bit better but there is no way you are going to get 20rwhp from that alone. Try it yourself, I did :) These rockers (SLP 1.85) have been out for over a year, if it was that easy to get 20rwhp dont you think someone may have mentioned it before..
