Default Replacing Headlight Motor

I checked the archives, before posting. It seems everyone goes to the dealer for this. It makes the grinding sound when closing, so I'm sure it's the actuator. I haven't gotten my service manual yet, so I need intructions.

Anyone here changed the headlight motor on their C5?

Thanks!

Good posting and I look forward to someone responding. It can't be too hard...the dealership changed mine while I had a cup of coffee. They would not let me go in the back room to watch.

I changed my passenger side Actuator. It was quite easy as long as you have thin arms. The grinding sound is the plastic gears in the motor breaking against each other. Open the hood and flip up you lights. If the motor has already gone out then you can manually raise them by turning the **** on the rear of the motor. Their are two bolts going to the inside. There are two bolts going to the back. Remove the headlight assembly. Then replace the actuator with the new one. Then put it back in. It took me about 30 minutes. I got my actuator off a website for GM factory parts it was about $100 cheaper than the dealer. {Non-supporting vendor}.com I do not remember the part number, but they are different for passenger and driver actuator. Call your local dealer and ask the parts department. Good luck and if you need more help feel free to email me.

Interesting that it would not let me tell you the website address because it is a non-supporting vendor. I will be more than happy to email the site address to you if you would like.
