'03 Z06 with fuel filter/regulator assembly. I'm going to replace it since it appears to be the original unit that's over 18 years old and has over 47K miles. What is a good quality replacement? Checked a few autoparts stores and prices range from $20 to $120. Car does mainly track duty so it spends a lot of time over 4000 rpm. Prefer something not made in China.
Mission accomplished. I ended up going with the WIX unit, proudly manufactured by our good friends in Taiwan. Searched both high and low for a USA manufactured assembly, no luck. Pretty straight forward, the clips were a bit off a PITA due to minimal accessibility but got it done. Got the proper tool for the outlet line.
And hey, who doesn't like a golden shower of flammable liquid every now and then?
I guess I'm pushing my luck. Car runs great, has original 21 year old original fuel filter, 122,000 miles on it. I believe the biggest problem facing us with fuel isn't gunk in the fuel, it's water in the fuel, which the filter won't stop. I do avoid getting gas at stations while their tanks are being refilled, which would stir up any junk on the bottoms of their tanks. So I've never changed a fuel filter on a fuel injected car, and probably wont. I wouldn't feel this way, except I put 400,000 miles on my '03 Buick LeSabre, and 350,000+ on my '95 Grand Cherokee. BOTH had the original fuel filter. That's nearly 900,000 miles on original filters, in only 3 vehicles. OK, fire away!!
Did you verify what fuel system you have? If you have a late 03 you have the C6 fuel tank system, and the filter arrangement is completely different. I learned this the hard way and now have a brand new fuel filter that is completely useless.
