Default 99 running really rough

Hello,

I just purchased the car 2 weeks ago.

It it has a cam in it and long tube headers. If there were other mods done to it, I do not know what they would be.

The check engine light light is on and I was told that after the tune scheduled next week at Vengeance here in GA, it should go off. I was told the code was bank 1 sensor 1. I could be wrong though.

It would not stall but the rpm’s would fluctuate a little at idle.

I was going on a on a road trip of about 300 miles and thought that being on the highway for a while would help clear up the situation.

When I filled up before the trip I added Sea Foam to the gas tank to help clean things up.

Started the trip trip and everything seemed like it was before.

Had to stop at a red light and the car sounded like it was going to stall and rpm’s were fluctuated much more than before.

When I would press on the gas everything seemed ok but if I lifted up on the gas, it felt like it was bogging down with too much fuel.

Decided to to turn around and head back home.

Car stalled one time because I couldn’t catch it in time.

Even when I use cruise control, I can hear it bogging down when I am coasting and not accelerating.

I am hoping the tune will be able to fix the situation.

Should I have not used the Sea Foam? It seemed to make the situation worse not better?

Any ideas?

Thanks, Ron.

Welcome to the Forum and sorry to hear the car is running bad…if you didn’t know you can check for codes through the DIC…this will tell you exactly which code you have…your issue can be caused by a few things but without a scan tool you’d only be guessing and that can get expensive…looking at “live data” with a scan tool may help in a diagnosis but you have to know what the info you’re looking at is correct…scan tools are cheap these days so it may be a wise investment for down the road…hopefully your tuner can help you out…if not find a good diagnostic shop…it would be cheaper in the long run !!…the only thing I use in my tank is Techron or BG44K…also a good idea to use non ethanol fuel if it’s available in your area !!
