Hi.
I have a c5 with significant n/a mods. Making around 500 crank hp. The transmission is a c5 z06 6 speed and it’s leaking significantly. Also 5th gear is grinding a little at times with engagement. Transmission shop has quoted me $4300 to remove, rebuild the transmission with some upgraded goods, and install a new McLeod clutch. Breaks down to $1000 for the clutch, 2300 for the rebuild and $1000 for labor/ miscellaneous stuff like fluids, adjustments etc. Thoughts?? Seems fair but want to be sure I’m not missing something
I would contact RPM transmission. I have their stage 5 transmission with 500 wheel HP and have been very happy. I would check them out, and talk to them before you have any work done.
I had 1700 in parts in the rebuild of my c5z trans. Did the work myself.
I would ask your shop what they’re changing.
My list included all syncro assemblies, new bearings, steel 3/4 fork, and 2nd gear. Small things like seals, shim set, keys, fork pads are to be expected.
