Default memory seat question

Recently, I found that using the #1 key, my drivers seat will move slightly forward after unlocking the car. the other day, the seat moved a quite a bit forward. I also noticed that the yellow light on the door controls flashes several times when going to start the car etc.

However, I switched to the #2 key (with the same position for the drivers seat) and there is no movement with the seat and the light doesnt flash.

Seems like #1 key causes some sort of glitch.

Has anyone ever heard of this issue? I wasnt able to find anything in my searches.

thank you for the help.

I have had similar movement of the the driver's seat/mirror when using the remote. Have done everything (Cancel Easy Entry) but it still moves with both keys. Now I just unlock the car with the key. Just another anomaly with the C5 I contend with. Some have set the seat where they like it and removed the fuse for the seat.

Yup, the old Police album "Ghost in the Machine" comes to mind when talking about C5 electronics.....

Seat position is controlled by the BCM which receives a seat position signal from the seat via a position potentiometer attached to the seat motor. There have been reports that cleaning and re dielectric greasing that seat motor potentiometer can restore accurate seat position signal from the seat to the BCM.

Bill Curlee suggested some tome ago to first run the seat back and forth a number of times to perhaps self clean the seat motor potentiometer and see if the condition disappears.

Different keys can, if the BCM has received a different seat position saved location for that key, cause different seat movements which may or may not be blurred by a dirty seat motor potentiometer.

awesome. thank you very much for the information. I will try and run the seat back and forth a couple of times and see if that fixes the issue. thanks!

Jim993 is correct. 2 years ago, I grew tired of my seat stopping wherever it wanted to! So I pulled the seat, put it on a workbench, and did exactly what he suggested, except for the dielectric grease part. Do a search. C&S Corvettes, and/or other You Tubers have video's on how to do it. I followed their instructions (can't remember the user's name for the video) to a T. It didn't honestly look that dirty, so I was skeptical. But I put everything back together, and 2 years later it's still working right. Best of luck to you.......
