Hey, guys! Was going through my diagnostics on my Vette. What is 28-TCS C1286??? What is it and how do I fix it? This code came up when the "service column lock" error message popped up. Thank you.
It's a code for the steering sensor located at the bottom of the steering column. Could be a simple as a bad ground, or worse the sensor has failed. Not a easy fix it thats the case. Lots of threads on this, here's one. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ode-c1286.html
Respectful suggestion: Undo your battery for a few hours.
My instrument panel cluster was replaced because I had an unsolvable mysterious brake light on permanently. When the new IPC was installed by our local Corvette authority, I had the stupid "Service Column Lock" notification on, in spite of my installation of the LMC modification and the Chevy recall of the disconnection of the system. It had stuck around for an entire year.
I had whacked the right mirror on my stupidly-narrow garage entrance, which made it pop loose and become "floppy." I applied the internet fix (which worked just the treat, BTW) and disconnected the battery for several hours.
I haven't noticed the stupid "Service Column Lock" notification on the DIC for several days. I was thinking that it was because I had gotten used to turning the notice off; it has disappeared!
