Default Has anyone changed horn from membrane to a button?

My horn doesn't always work when bopping the center of the steering wheel, the membrane contact is on its way out. But it's a simple switch to join 2 contacts. I'm wondering if anyone has just ditched the membrane and put in an actual mechanical button or microswitch to work the horn.
I'm just not too keen on replacing my dying membrane with another used part. And I'm concluding it's the steering wheel part because it honks just fine on locking the car.

The membrane doesn't really run down the center - that's where the air bag splits.

Usually when the membrane fails the horn sticks on and keeps honking.
