Hi everyone! I am a new C5 Corvette owner and I’m stumped. I know there is a wealth of information in here and need help. I thought I had a leaking fluid temperature sensor on my 2002 C5Z manual transmission but after I got the car off the ground found it was leaking from a different sensor just above the temperature sensor on the drivers side. Can anyone tell me what this is and how to get it fixed? It is not leaking a lot but very annoying drop in the garage after driving. Thank you for your help!
Tried to upload a picture but too big I guess…

That’s the CAGS solenoid for 1 to 4 gear shift. What I remembered mine was not torqued down too tight. You should be able to remove it with adjustable wrench. I would clean it and use a small amount of permentex Ultra grey RTV on threads.
But I’m thinking your leak could be coming from the top cover housing that hold the reverse lockout solenoid. (four small bolts). You could clean the area up and retorqued the bolts and see if it stops.
Thank you for the reply. I ordered a new one and will do as you said with the sealant. I sure hope it’s not the top plate….that looks impossible to reach while the tranny is in the car. 🤞🏼
you shouldn’t order a new one (solenoid), it’s not connected wiring wise. Looks like your has dummy electrical plug on the solenoid so basically it’s not being used. Remove the existing one, clean it, and add RTV to the threads. Hopefully you can return the new one.
