Default Intake R&R - what else should I replace?

I will have the dealer remove and replace my intake with a LS6 because of a service bulliten on the rear knock sensor.

what else should I replace when the intake is removed under warranty?

Nothing really. Its easy to take the manifold off anyways, maybe an hour job so its not like its a hassle to go back in later anyway.

One thing you might consider is that the LS6 motor also comes with with an oil seperator on the inside of the valley cover. It was done for better oil control. The valley of the LS1 would need a little grinding done to provide the necessary clearance to install it. Some well placed rags in the valley should prevent any metal that was ground away from going where it could do harm. The number of the cover (as of 9/01): 12566002.

The oil pressure sender unit is located behind the intake and is accessible only after removing the intake. Since the sender does fail on many C5's, you should have it replaced while the manifold is off.

Kepright

I had some warrenty intake work done and the suckers screwed up the vacuum line that supplies vacuum for the HVAC controls. The hose fell off the vacuum fitting and NOTHING vacuum operated in the car worked (yea it was winter time)
Too bad it fell off about a month after they worked on it or I would have had them put it back on. Man it was a PITA to get back on with everything in place.

Make sure that hose is in good condition and securely in place!!
