I've asked this before and no one responded but does anyone have a cammed or stock headers, straight piped or even 2.5" bullit axle back exhaust on there car? Someone told me the varam air bridge wasn't worth the money so im wanting to something similar to the billy boat 2.5 bullit exhaust with 18hp claims. I feel if whatever exhaust i come up with makes 10+hp plus the nice sound of the new muffled deleted 5.0s and chargers. Locally they're exhaust is way loud on 5.0s and some chargers. Not sure what they got but i asked a youtube guy about this said he did muffler delete and kept the stock resonators. I have tsp headers, nice volant air filter and 220/224 cam. Im trying to get the nice exhaust sound without overspending. Locally they want about 120$ to fit straight pipe off the factory catback 2.5" and run it around the trunk and im thinking with the autozone 2.5"-3" pilot tips. Its possible to have them fabricate the bullits in place of the factory muffler and loop 180 piping around and a 90 degree out the back on both sides. Does anyone have sound clips of their car with bullit mufflers? I need something to add to the cam. FYI I had a 98 z28 6 speed with slp headers 3" x pipe 3" bullits dumped and the soud wasnt too bad it sounded pretty good if you asked me and made the motor sound more solid or healthy. That was a six speed car tho. I think with 2.5" and tips out the rear bumper will be quieter then the 3" with bullits dumped but i may be mistaken the c5 wheel base is only 104.5". Also adds to the look of the car nice 3" polished or black tips. I could also run dougs mufflers directly behind the rear tires but im not sure how loud they would be. Does anyone else run exhaust that aint out the back bumper and how does it sound or look. The cammed tsp headers stock muffler c5 only goes to 76 decibals in the cab and would go from 69-74db before adding the cam. At stoplights it just doesnt have the mean sounding exhaust i think it should have.
Anyone have borla straight pipe sound clips. Im trying to fit either nice quad tips or custom single straight pipes with pilot 3" tip mufflers to make the cammed, header exhaust look nicer in the rear. I was thinking of painting the wheels copper gold or rose gold whichever that bronze gold color is but not sure how it would look.

Heres what im looking to do to mine. Borla stright pipes but using the factory pipes over the axles. The muffler shop told me 120$ and could get them straight if i had the tips. Im thinking about getting autozone 2.5" inlet id 3" outlet pilot single tips. If only i had a fat set of z06 18x10.5" for the rear to fill out the space. Curious if borla uses 3" 3.5" or 4" single tips this is the exhaust i was looking for. I seen the other ebay ad description of the 370$ bullet style muffler axle back claims 14hp 20tq on a stock vehicle. These are real good additions for a cammed, header corvette. Get the real cam exhaust sound going. I have enough funds for either exhaust or a glowshift wideband to monitor the afr after having the vehicle dynotuned at a local shop. No one has sound clips of these straight pipes or bullet style mufflers? Thats about as far as i am. Still on factory base c5 exhaust cant hear the cam or exhaust from 50 yards.

An X-pipe is the best mod for a better sounding exhaust. It makes even a stock exhaust sound much better.
Regardless what axleback you put on it’s going to sound like a gurgling motorboat until you put an Xpipe. Sounds a lot more blended with one installed.

I messed up speed engineering headers were on backorder for a few months with the 3" x pipe which is a bit cheaper so I had to go with tsp headers that fit the stock exhaust. I don't know if I'll get into cutting and fitting an x pipe the current exhaust is easy to remove. I think borla straight pipes polished tips would look nice. They stopped manufacturing the small 2.5" 4" long mini bullit race mufflers i was going to replace the stock mufflers with and some 3" tips. I was running some errands last night and got the check engine light for the p0135 heater circuit and p0154 for right bank sensor 1 insufficient activity. Probably will be looking to replace o2 sensors then exhaust or mufflers.

Yeah thats the sound were looking for. So what are you suggesting have the muffler shop fit 2.5" 9" long bullet mufflers in the factory location and loop them around 180 degrees and 90 degrees out the back similar to an aftermarket catback billy boat and other similar bullet muffler exhaust or simply 2.5" bullit turn down dumps behind the rear axle for optimum power. Wont have the cool exhaust single tip look out the back like those borla straight pipes look real nice plus gets rid of muffler weight. We're not here for noise or loud were here for the 14-18hp 20wtq billy boat ebay exhaust advertisements. I have just about every other mod besides good mufflers. I've always used 9" 3" bullit mufflers with x-h pipes and they sound mean going down the highway. Dont be that guy getting comped or out revved by stock muffler delete 5.0s chargers and such when out daily driving on the street. Just the sound i was looking for.
Can get the 360-380$ ebay exhaust as seen in above photos the tips have those restrictor plates vs being wide open like the stock tips. Looks kind of cheesy. Never know if the over the axle parts will fit perfectly like the factory catback or need a hammer and welder to make fit.
You are not getting 14-18 hp from a catback so don't do it for the "power gains". You would actually gain HP/tq with a better tune than swapping on some catback.

A better tune? Are you suggesting my current dyno tune isnt good enough and that theres more horsepower from a better ls tuning shop? I already have headers, oval air filter and a 220/224 cam stock auto 4l60e 3.15 gear. The next thing im looking into is horsepower or the correct noise from the exhaust. I think theres 10+hp from a better flowing muffler set-up. 3.73-3.90 gears are 900$. The new axle back runs around 200$-400$ and sounds better get that nice drone noise you were looking for coming from headers 3" xpipe bullit dumped 6 speed 98 z28. The best noise there is. What is that a flowmaster, loudmouth. Yes flowmasters are roughyl 180$ each muffler to fit in the factory exhaust location. The stock c5 mufflers neck down to 1.875" at the muffler inlet so a good 2.5" would be better flowing. If there aint any noise from its got to be lacking power unless turboed.
Nice sound, something kids remember for decades after hearing... for a C5 It all starts with an X-pipe. Headers, axleback, cam, all come after the X in importance.
The further back the X the lower the tone. Want a Ferrari high pitched scream up top then XS power headers with the X right after the collectors does that, further back gets you closer to a muscle car sound. Mid-way is Fox-body Mustang.
Its a 1" opening x pipe this is classic style single exhaust from what ive read. If i were to put a wideband in the stock equalizer h-pipe hopefully enough air circulates to read correct AFR. The ebay 370$ exhaust is similar to borla s type and other round canned exhaust mufflers. lol
The ebay dna axle back looks nice just the round tips would look better then that cluster oval shaped looks cheezy exhaust tips. Its similar to this but at a 3rd of the price. I asked if he had quality fitment issues he said no if they did have quality fitment issues bad metal they would have removed the parts from ebay listing. Similar to this borla maybe would sound the same i like the round tips.
Someone local has the borla s type mufflers and quad exhaust tips but not the over axle pipes for 300$. Im thinking i can get them to fit with the factory 2.5" over the axle pipes. I may try to purchase them to keep the car quiet and somewhat loud. He may end up selling them before i can purchase them.
Ok well im trying to get these borls s type mufflers exhaust tips id have to use my stock 2.5" over the axle pipes. The guys giving me a pretty good deal. Should i purchase them and do they look correct for c5 fitment as advertised?
OP, what are you looking to do? sound? HP?
catbacks will give you sound. Period. you're replacing the absolute tail end of the exhaust system, where turbulence and pressure is at the absolute lowest, don't expect much, if any, gains. If you want to increase power through exhaust upgrades, it's headers/xpipe tune. Period. (and even then, if you don't balance it out with other upgrades, you really won't realize full potential -- pushing more gas out, means you should be sucking more air in and dumping in more fuel -- so doing an exhaust upgrade you should at least take care of intake and fuel).
Also, I'll give you a little advice with over 22 years owning a c5. buying cheap will cost you far more money when you end up replacing it down the road.
Buy cheap, get ****. stay away from the ebay no-name garbage, stick with name brands. And look at the jackass that is endorsing that DNA crap-- he has the car up on rickety jack stands in his driveway revving the engine like a moron... misaligned tips... and said he "doesn't care" about the quality of the exhaust at least half a dozen times. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence, and is certainly not a review I'd put any stock in.
