My 2000 convertible recently starting having these error codes come up when I drive faster than 42 mph. Anywhere from 42 to 49 they come on, and this happens:
ABS and Traction Control light comes on
SERVICE ABS
SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL
SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING
appears. I can hit reset and the notations go away, but the lights stay on. I took it into my technician, and he said it was the speed sensor, right front. So he replaced it yesterday. When he went for a spin, he hit 70 mph and no lights came on. I drove it a few miles and when I got to 62-63 the lights came on. He drove it and the lights came on about the same speed. When I drove it home, I set the cruise at 60, the slowly added a mileuntil I hit 64. No lights or errors!. Any on experience this? anyone have ideas? All else is fine.
Thanks for listening.
Never heard of a 1001 code...is it a U, B, or C DTC ??...how did your Tech diagnose that it was the sensor ??...I bet he just changed the part just by the code...it can be the hub/sensor, or wiring... the WSS puts out an AC voltage so spinning the hub fast you should see around 1 volt AC...also there is a short harness that connects to the hub so that may have an intermittent connection...have your Tech swap them over and see if the fault moves to the other side...also the connections should be closely inspected for loose or damaged pins...one of the 2 sensor wires has a 5 volt bias on it when disconnected so he could shake that wire down to see if the 5 volts disappears if there is a wiring issue...that would be the white wire for the 5 volts…to check the other wire he can disconnect the connector at the EBCM and do a resistance check on that circuit possibly for an open. He SHOULD be using a scope to check for any drop outs in the signal.I’m moving this to Tech.
I recently started having this also and just replaced the hub a year ago. Damn car always has something wrong with it, dunno why the Corvette is so highly regarded.
The B1001 is a mismatch between the VIN stored in the airbag module (SDM) vs what’s in the BCM…has an airbag or BCM been replaced or you don’t know ??…that DTC shouldn’t have anything to do with the 1233…is your new Tech going to diagnose the 1233 ??
No on the airbag and BCM. Yeah, very odd that it only comes on when I go over 64. He is delving into the 1233 with a couple of techs from our Chevy dealer.
Had the PCM been replaced ??…the Tech should see if the correct VIN is in the PCM…if the VIN is correct the SDM will most likely have to be replaced if neither the airbag or BCM had been replaced…should only need 1 Tech to diagnose this if he knows what he’s doing…not a couple…LOL !!
I take that back. We replaced the ebcm when we replaced the abs pump recently. I will call my tech tomorrow. He is off on Sundays and Mondays.
How does one change the VIN in the EBCM?
Thanks a bunch for the tip.
My goof. I kept thinking EBCM that we changed, not BCM. The tech from our Chevy dealer is getting involved. He has a Tech 2 scanner.
I don;t know if the BCM or SDM had ever been changed.
Weird thing happened to day. When driving on the highway, I set the cruise at 64. Then slowly went up 1 mph at a time. Went up to 72 with no lights or error messages. Next time I will try to go higher. Maybe the sage idea had something to do with this? LOL
I also face problems with code C1233. In this discussion, I can realize the issue of these problems. Thanks to everybody who suggestion in this issue. I have been reading this article https://theeffectiveguide.com/c1233-code/ and hopefully find the solution.
