My HVAC control unit is completely dead, the screen is completely blank and none of the function buttons work. So upon searching threads for same issues came across one thread in this forum dates back 12 years ago owner had 97 had same problem as I. He replaced ignition switch that fixed his problem.
my question is since there's no new ignition switch I will have to get a used one. Are 97-04 ignition switches same or is there cut off year ignition switches only work?
when I replace ignition switch with the used one, will my current key work with the used ignition switch?
I think my key vat is 7 or 8. I will have to check I wrote this FCC own when I got a spare key made 3 years ago.
Thanks for guidance in advance.
I explained in an earlier post what to check for your no comm…this doesn’t look like an ignition switch issue…also you do not need a new key…the ignition lock cylinder is removed from the old switch and installed in the new one…because someone’s switch fixed their issue doesn’t always mean it’s going to work for you !!…Rock Auto sells switches…don’t know why you say there are no new switches !!
I think you are jumping to conclusions. There are a lot more items to check off before going the route you are heading. Fuses, the control panel itself is notorious for frying out, etc.

I checked the fuses in the floor board on the passenger side. I think it was number 27. Can't recall exact fuse number.
