Default Driver's seat issue

2000 coupe. Took the car out this past Wednesday bc of nice weather. Was rounding the freeway off ramp on the way home, and the left side of my seat "dropped", thats the only way I can describe it. I leaned forward, and the seat popped back up. It felt like something broke. I couldnt tell if it was the whole seat or just the back. Then it did it a couple more times, depending on how I sat back in the seat. Ive tried searching here, bc I figure this has to have been covered, but came up empty. Before I go pull the seat, can anyone give me an idea what to look for to see what's broken?

deep socket 15 and remove the seat for a visual inspection. If you don’t see anything it’s likely the “wire cage” underneath the foam that may be flexing or breaking.

Another possibility is the cast aluminum ears on the rear of the seat track have been known to crack. If yours are broken let me know I have an extra pair I can give you. It only takes about 5 minutes to pull the seat out to inspect.

Before doing anything else, move the seat base all the way back. Pull the seat tilt lever and push the seat back all the way forward. Do the same with the lever behind the head rest. What this does is resyncs the latches in the seat back. It may take a couple of tries but worth the time to ensure you don't have to delve any deeper.
