Default headlight lense restorer

I need to remove the headlights i guess unscrew them from the bottom thru the lower bumper covers and brakeleen all the niteshade off. What grit or is there a rubber grit pad for this type of job that can be used on a drill with polish or buffing compound to shine them or restore the outer lense. Its 270$ for a new set of headlights but i figure it would be best to try and restore what i have. You would have to buff them i seen some people use clearcoat but i think cerakote makes and wipes that'll seal the fully buffed or polished lense and leave a clear protective layer from UVs. Is it possible to restore them on the car or would it be best to remove them from the brackets from underneath the bumper and attempt this type of repair. This is one of the worse cosmetic issues with the car other then that it looks nice. WOuld be best to try and restore these im guessing theyre 10-12 years old from when they had wrecked the car in 2010 according to the vin.

for the repair first. For my DD Murano that sits outside with exposed headlights, I use polish pads, first 3000 grit then 5000 grit about 3 times a year to keep the lens clear. After polishing, I apply Meguiars Headlight Protectant (UV protection) to the lens and reapply after every wash. No clear coating is applied..

You bet i guess one day ill remove the lower bumper covers and attempt to remove the headlights from the elbow brackets that hold them in place. As far as i know they can't be adjusted but do work or shine great as far as headlights go. Not sure if there is a slotted or way to adjust them up or down.

I used the first kit above. Use a drill. Much better results. Don’t get scared ! They are gonna look worse before they start looking better ! Lol. Here’s a few pictures.

I used the 3M 39195 Ultra a few months ago on a couple of my cars and am pleased with the results so far. When doing them I first thought what the hell did I do wrong but when you get to the last step of the process the lenses look like new.
